I graduated from London University in 1988 having studied for a degree in Pharmacy. I then went on to complete my training with Boots the Chemists and finally registered as a Pharmaceutical Chemist in 1989. I stayed firmly in my comfortable rut with Boots until starting maternity leave in December 2004
Initially I worked as Pharmacist at the store in Amersham, Buckinghamshire but for following 13 years I worked as a Relief Pharmacist in the Watford and St Albans area. I found relief work much more interesting and far less stressful, but I was eventually persuaded to commit to a long stint at the Berkhamsted branch where I stayed for almost a year. That turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the reduced travel and the support of the staff made working life much easier while I was pregnant.
For a large national company Boots is surprisingly backward when it comes to technology so I’ve had to indulge my interest in computers outside of work. The world of the internet was an eye-opener for me when I first got online but I now enjoy dabbling in website design. I've even managed to make a little extra money from my hobby by designing some websites in collaboration with a friend's design company.
I’ve made some wonderful friends on the net from many different countries but I fear I neglect them shamefully these days as since I met a very special someone I don’t spend nearly as much time online as I once did!
